Chiang Mai Scene
I’m going to Bangkok, Thailand and bars, nightclubs, high class cocktail bars drinking age?
I will be in the Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai region of Thailand for a little over three months this summer. While in Bangkok, I plan on visiting some nice pubs and nightclubs, even places such as Vertigo near the Bayan Hotel and doing photography. My question is, will I have a problem getting a drink or entering bars…I am 19 years and of and Caucasian.
Also, if you have any recommendations for hotels near the nightlife scene there that are affordable, please feel free to let me know.

the legal age for all night entertainment venues is 20. in most places they wont check, but the more upscale clubs and bars in town will check your ID, or in your case your passport. because nobody cares around here, feel free to photoshop your passport scan, it’s what everybody does. or you could go to khaosarn road and just pick up a fake driver’s license for 300 baht. no, i’m not joking. once you’re in nobody will ask you anymore about age.
dont try to do any professional photography in any clubs, it is not allowed and many clubs will throw you out if you do. little point and shoot cameras are fine, and if you can be discrete with a DSLR then it’s ok, just dont flaunt it.
