What time does the jam usually starts and when do they end?
Is it the same even on weekends?
I’ve heard stories about the gridlock situations in Bangkok and would like to avoid getting stuck in one!! Thanks 🙂
Update: Thanks Peanutz for the advice but I won’t be doing any driving of any sort since it’ll be my first visit to Bangkok 🙂
Just wanted to know more about the traffic situations before I hop onto a cab and get stuck for god-knows how long 😀
A Traffic sucks in Bangkok especially during the morning and evening rush hours. You can sit in a taxi for over an hour and not go more then 5 km. Avoid them during these times. Even during other times the traffic suck and so does Thai drivers. They do not follow traffic rules, stay in assigned lanes, will not stop when coming out of side streets and the police in force nothing. The police is helpless in this city, only time you get stopped is during a police road check when 100 cops are stopping anyone and everyone and making a profit taken money from motorist who have done nothing wrong. The police is corrupt as everything else here. You got friends in high places you don’t have to worry.
Bangkok Jam is a restaurant in Berkeley, California ─ I linked to its website in the image at the top of this post. You can go to their website to learn about the restaurant, if that is why you are here.
There is also a Bangkok Jam in Singapore, so maybe there are others?
I’m not going to fill up my post with reviews of Bangkok Jam Restaurants, but I will not entirely ignore them.
Primarily, though, I am going to present a number of articles, news reports, and so forth that might have just about anything ─ or maybe even nothing! ─ at all to do with Bangkok, jams, and Berkeley. If you see something that looks curious, then check it out ─ let’s have some fun!

Who can say no to a delicious plate of Pad Thai with Shrimp; a fresh, tangy Green Papaya Salad; golden Fried Spring Rolls; or a rich, savory Pork Toast with Cucumber Relish? Thai food is not only one of the most vibrant, wonderfully varied cuisines in the world, it also happens to be one of the tastiest, and a favorite among American eaters.
The good news is, with the right ingredients and a few basic tools and techniques, authentic Thai food is easily within reach of home cooks. Take it from Leela Punyaratabandhu, a Bangkok native and author of the popular Thai cooking blog She Simmers. In her much-anticipated debut cookbook, Leela shares her favorite recipes for classic Thai fare, including beloved family recipes, popular street food specialties, and iconic dishes from Thai restaurant menus around the world.
All of Leela’s recipes have been tested and tweaked to ensure that even the busiest cook can prepare them at home. With chapters on key ingredients and tools, base recipes, one-plate meals, classic rice accompaniments, and even Thai sweets, Simple Thai Food is a complete primer for anyone who wants to give Thai cooking a try. By the end of the book, you’ll be whipping up tom yam soup and duck red curry that will put your local takeout joint to shame. But perhaps more importantly, you’ll discover an exciting new world of Thai flavors and dishes—including Stir-Fried Chicken with Chile Jam, Leaf-Wrapped Salad Bites, and Crispy Wings with Three-Flavored Sauce—that will open your eyes to all the wonderful possibilities that real Thai cooking has to offer.

The tenth anniversary edition of the international bestseller with an updated introduction by Naomi Klein.
In the last decade No Logo has become an international phenomenon. Equal parts journalistic expose, mall-rat memoir, and political and cultural analysis, it vividly documents the invasive economic practices and damaging social effects of the ruthless corporatism that characterizes many of our powerful institutions. As the world faces another depression, Naomi Klein’s analysis of the branded world we all live in proves not only astonishingly prescient but more vital and timely than ever.
No Logo became “the movement bible” that put the new grassroots resistance to corporate manipulation into clear perspective. It tells a story of rebellious rage and self-determination in the face of our branded world, calling for a more just, sustainable economic model and a new kind of proactive internationalism. Since her book The Shock Doctrine was published, Klein has become the most visible and influential figure on the American left ─ what Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky were thirty years ago.
