Five things to avoid in Manila

During my tours of Southeast Asia nomadic sense, I’ve certainly picked up some tricks of the trade, and as a general sense of appreciation for each unique type of adventure certain regions can offer homeless can like me! Although it may be helpful in general knows what to do when visiting a foreign country, knowing what NOT to do it almost certainly is more important!

After visiting Manila on numerous occasions, could spend days telling you where to go, where to eat, what to pay, and more. With that said, there are plenty of useful articles on that! In his Instead, focus on what to avoid, that way your holiday will be much more relaxing!

DO NOT try to seafood sold in the streets of his first days there. While there is general health, your body is not prepared for the type of cooking yet. Established in the first place, eating in some restaurants, going to dinner at a friend’s house and meet the more moderate style Pinoy cooking before diving right in. Like the dream is, and most of external things, food has a couple of days before your body is perfectly acclimated. Eating seafood suppliers too soon might have to put in your drinking Pepto Bismol back the early days of their stay.

Do not go too far out of town without a tour guide, either a professional, family member or friend. The roads are all alike, can get lost very easily, and English dissipates once you leave the metro Manila area.

NOT confuse kindness with weakness. Filipino people are often very happy in the background and usually puts a smile. With that said, just because someone is smiling at you that does not mean that they are welcome. If you are rude to what appears as a very mild mannered person, you could be in a difficult situation as the roughness of tourist is moderate, but sometimes tolerated quickly reciprocated. Be polite.

Do not take the first price offered that unless you’re in a store in a mall or something official. most stores mark their prices and expect people to barter.

NO get into a taxi unless you have a metered taxi or have already agreed a price. Sometimes the greedy are going in circles, hitting the way traffic, or even bring it to a wrong place.

About the Author

My name is M. Gwapito and although I have a deep passion for writing, i’m not typically spotted with a pen and a pad!  Generally I can be seen in a Makati bar enjoying Manila Nightlife!  It is always the day after where I have to nurse a vicious migraine where I turn to the comfort of a pad and a pen for relief!
