do you not pay departure tax when leaving the new airport in bangkok ?
i was there in june and never had to pay !!!!!!!
i never paid it i had kept 700baht to pay and i spent it in duty free , no one told me where to pay or asked for the ticket that you get from machine
i never paid the 50 when i left phuket either
A That got me as i kept money aside but only 500, then when i got to the airport found out at the counter it had gone up to 700. In a bit of a panic i asked the guy when did it go up as no one told me. The guy said i had already paid as i booked my flight on feb 2nd, lucky i tried to book on the 29th jan. So i had a few beers before waitong for departure.

Since 1 February 2007 the 700 Baht departure tax is included in the price of flight tickets. Before that date, departing passengers had to pay the tax to officials or vending machines before they entered the immigration queues. The departure tax at Don Muang International Airport was 500 Baht per person.

The international departure tax would be increased by Bt200 to Bt700 and domestic passengers would incur a Bt100 fee, up from a current Bt50. The increase would be effective from February 1.
