From the opening paragraph of Wikipedia‘s article Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration:
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Filipino: Pangasiwaan ng Palingkurang Atmosperiko, Heopisikal at Astronomiko ng Pilipinas, abbreviated as PAGASA, which means “hope” in the Tagalog word pag-asa) is a Philippine national institution dedicated to provide flood and typhoon warnings, public weather forecasts and advisories, meteorological, astronomical, climatological, and other specialized information and services primarily for the protection of life and property and in support of economic, productivity and sustainable development. The government agency was created on 8 December 1972 by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 78 reorganizing the Philippine Weather Bureau into PAGASA.
I went to the PAGASA website (http://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph), selected the WEATHER link in the column at the left, and then when a new Window appeared, I selected Philippine Cities in the left column of this new Window.
Cagayan de Oro is skirted. This particular Capital City is on the largest island of the Philippines — Mindanao; but whereas a few Mindanao cities/municipalities are named, none in Cagayan de Oro’s province of Mismamis Oriental are.
Consequently, it would seem that a visitor to the website can get an overall read on Cagaya de Oro’s weather by referring to one of the nearby cities/municipalities/provinces listed at PAGASA, but that appears to me to be the best that can be done.
Instead, one is left with the option of selecting the Daily Weather link in the left column and determining conditions for Cagayan de Oro by viewing the whole geographic region where the Philippines lie.
Or — if you do not mind scanning a two-page .pdf document — there is this daily report that does list Cagayan de Oro: 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST. This report is issued once each day, and thus is supposedly as valid for a 24-hour period as it is possible for such a thing to be.
That same daily .pdf report is available here.
Of course, there are other websites offering weather forecasts tailored just to Cagayan de Oro. For instance:
- Weather-Forecast.com: Cagayan de Oro Weather Forecast – 10 Day (Philippines)
Other weather forecast websites include:
- Weather.WeatherBug.com: Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines
- Qwikcast.com: Cagayan de Oro
- Weather.CNN.com: Cagayan De Oro, Philippines
The site is especially popular among Internet users in Cagayan de Oro City where it ranks number 20 and in Sucat. Among the leading search queries for the DOST site in the past month are PAGASA, weather forecast, PAGASA weather forecast
