If there really is anyone interested in the 2008 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards extravaganza that was then held in Bangkok, you might refer to the IIFA.com website itself: Showcase/2008.
A blogger at IIFABangkok.wordpress.com greeted news of the planned event in this exuberant fashion:
This is excellent news for all Indians in Thailand. People from IIFA [have] announced their plans of hosting IIFA at Bangkok. This would also increase Indian tourism to Thailand as there will be 500 stars + thousands of fan[s] following arriving to Bangkok.
The event is most likely to be held at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani which is a 12,000-seat arena-style concert hall. It is the primary large-scale entertainment venue for the Bangkok metropolitan area. Past concerts have included shows by Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Elton John and Deep Purple as well as such shows as Disney on Ice. The arena was also used for the Miss Universe 2005 pageant. It also hosts Muay Thai and the Thailand Open tennis tournament.

The nominations for the Idea IIFA Awards 2008, Bangkok were announced and released worldwide, on 15th April by IIFA Brand Ambassador Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
