I had read the following statement at Sulawesi-Info.com:
Currently (April 2010) there are no flights from Davao to Manado anymore!
Meanwhile, I located this at ManadoSafaris.com:
Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado has regular international flight service to/from Singapore (Silkair) and Davao/Philippines (this service does get interrupted periodically).
Scrolling down to the bottom of that last webpage gave a flight schedule for the route on both Silkair (effective as of April 1, 2012) and Wings Air (effective as of August 2012). I should here mention that I am editing this post on December 6, 2012.
Concerning Wings Air, there is this July 12 (2012) article: Indonesian regional airliner revives Manado-Davao link. See also Davao-Manado chartered flights resume.
Earlier in 2012, a blog called Davao Hive Philippines posted the following on March 27: MIDSEA EXPRESS NOW FLIES DAVAO-MANADO, WINGS AIR AND ZEST AIRLINES TO FLY THE DAVAO-MANADO ROUTE SOON.
Philippine carrier Mid-Sea Air Express launched its inaugural Davao-Manado flight on March 18 on a once a week Sunday service. The airline uses a 19-seater Jet Stream aircraft for the route. Manado is the capital of the North Sulawesi province of Indonesia. Indonesia’s Consul General Eko Hartono said Thursday that an Indonesian airline is currently processing papers and accreditation to fly the route soon while another Philippine based airlines is also applying for Davao – Manado route. Shelley Sondakh, BIMP-EAGA Executive Secretary identified the airline wanting to operate Manado- Davao and vice versa routes as Zest Air and Lion Air subsidiary Wings Air of Indonesia. “Wings Air will be flying in May, and Zest Air possibly at the later part of this year,” he said. Lion Air is Indonesia’s biggest private airline. It operates 75 aircraft and has existing orders for 348 Boeing 737′s valued at US$22 billion. It is by far the biggest single contract for aircraft manufacturer Boeing on the type. Wings Air has applied for twice a week ATR service, while Mid-Sea Express intends to increase its Jetstream 42 flight frequency to two times a week. There is no details yet for the Zest Air flights.
So this indicates to me that there are supposed to be three air services flying the route at this point in early December 2012 as I make this post edit.
Note this March 6 (2012) article indicating that there were even two Indonesian carriers that were interested in initiating flights within the year between Manado and Davao: 2 Indonesian airlines want Davao-Manado route.
So what is the reality? I did a few flight searches, but I am not patient — and I hate that so many of them open up numerous new windows. What I did notice was that there did not appear to be anything direct between the two cities, and that there could be as many as three different stops for some of the flights. I suppose it would probably be best to visit the actual airlines previously mentioned and do a flight search at their own websites.
Incidentally, note this June 19 (2012) article: Wings Air Makes Maiden Flight from Manado to Davao. It seems to be indicating that Mid-Sea Air Express had already suspended their flights at that point in time!
My advice again: Do a search at the websites of the airlines that are supposed to be currently making these flights.
