Bangkok To Chiang Mai By Air

Can anyone help me with train information?
Hello everyone. I had a few questions about the State Railways of Thailand. I’m going from Bangkok to Chiang Mai by sleeper train. I went to the Seat 61 website to find information, but some things were unclear.
The 1st Class sleeper is air conditioned like the 2nd Class sleeper. The only difference is the 1st Class berths can be joined together, whereas the 2nd Class has an aisle way and privacy curtains per bunk.
A ticket is said to be 781 Baht one way, but is that fare amount for 1st Class or 2nd Class sleeper cabins? It wasn’t specific on the site, and I know that 1st Class should be more expensive than 2nd.
Also, I’ve been reading that 2nd Class sleeper is recommended. In most travel blogs I’ve read, how come 2nd Class is more popular with tourists? Is it solely because it’s cheaper, or is there something else to 2nd Class that 1st Class doesn’t offer.
Thank you to all that can answer my questions. Take care and travel safely.
First class sleepers consist of compartment for two persons and two full size bunk beds.So I guess it’s more private.
Second class sleepers are assembled from two facing seats to form the bottom or lower bunk. The upper bunk is a pulled down and unlocked when the beds are made up.
I guess people prefer the Second class air-con because it’s cheaper and there are many other travelers to talk to if you wish..Food and beers can be bought from sellers during the trip. so it can be very social if you are with a group. You can also get up and walk around. to stretch abit .Travel police actively patrol the train regularly so it’s safe.

Thai Air Asia Flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai Airbus A320
Experience an evening service on Thai Air Asia from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Intl airport to Chiang Mai Intl airport on an Airbus A320-200. Announcements in both thai and english. A very short sector but very enjoyable on Air Asia. I hope this gives you an idea of the services onboard. This was filmed a few days prior to the airport being temporarily shutdown by protesters in November 2008. Visit my blog for more trip reports and my travels http://dazz81.blogspot.com
